The 3rd grader little girl lives in a family of ten children, together with her father's extended family. Fatoumata is the youngest of the family. Among her parents, her father went to school, finished high school, but was unable to graduate. The father works in a factory, the mother is a housewife and occasionally sells fruit juice at the market. Fatoumata has an old, tattered textbook, her school equipment is the minimum, 2 notebooks, a pen and a pencil. She likes going to school. Le père travaille dans une usine, la mère est femme au foyer et vend occasionnellement des jus de fruits au marché. Fatoumata a un vieux manuel en lambeaux, son matériel scolaire est au minimum, 2 cahiers, un stylo et un crayon. Elle aime aller à l'école. À la maison, elle aide à nettoyer la maison et à faire la vaisselle. Dans ses temps libres, elle aime danser, jouer à l'école de saut d'obstacles avec ses amis, sauter à la corde, mais malheureusement, elle n'a pas le sien, dit-elle. Elle aime danser et jouer, mais pas chanter. Elle a beaucoup d'amis. Elle veut être policière. Selon sa mère, c'est une enfant sage, respectueuse et si elle a le ventre plein, il n'y a pas de problème avec elle, mais si elle a faim, elle se bat beaucoup. Elle veut des fournitures scolaires et du matériel scolaire et une corde à sauter. C'est une bonne élève, l'une des 3 meilleures de sa classe de 77 élèves.
